Uorfi Javed DEFENDS ‘friend’ Samay Raina amid Ranveer Allahbadia’s India’s Got Latent controversy; says, “I don’t believe jail is…”

The controversy erupted following Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent, which many found offensive and inappropriate. The latest episode featuring YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia has drawn significant criticism, leading to a formal complaint against both him and Samay for allegedly using “abusive language” on air. In response to the backlash, Uorfi Javed publicly supported her friend, Samay Raina, stating that while the comments made on the panel were indeed “distasteful,” they should not warrant jail time.

On her Instagram Stories, Uorfi defended Samay, expressing her disapproval of the extreme reactions: “You may dislike certain individuals or their actions, but calling for them to go to jail? Seriously? Samay is my friend, and I support him. Yes, what the others on the panel said was distasteful, but I don’t believe jail is an appropriate consequence.”

Uorfi had previously appeared as a guest on the show but left after contestants made objectionable remarks about her in front of the audience. At that time, she clarified that Samay had comforted her and there was no animosity between them.

She added, “I don’t hold @maisamayhoon responsible! He’s a friend, and I’m referring to the contestants! The entire team came to support me. Samay has only been kind to me since that incident.” Samay has also featured on Uorfi’s show, Follow Kar Lo Yaar, which aired last year.

What happened?

During his segment on India’s Got Latent, Ranveer provoked outrage with his comment to a contestant, asking, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” This statement sparked a severe backlash on social media. Following the uproar, Ranveer apologized and requested that the producers cut the inappropriate content from the episode.

In the wake of the incident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has issued a statement calling for strict action against both Ranveer and Samay, along with an “immediate ban” on the show. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarked that while freedom of expression is vital, it has its boundaries. Additionally, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi announced her intention to raise the matter in Parliament.
